Yoga Private Classes

MY STORY
I discovered yoga over two decades ago in college. It was love at first practice. For the first decade of this relationship, yoga was mostly a physical practice and I found myself drawn to Anusara and other vinyasa alignment-based styles.
Along the way I had the privilege of learning from some remarkable teachers, including Julie Dohrman, with whom I completed the RY-200 teacher training. Others who have had a significant influence on my practice are: Chrissy Carter, Elena Brower, Marc Holzman, Jason Crandell, Amy Ippoliti, Kathryn Budig, Sri Dharma Mittra, and many more.
During this time I learned that proper alignment is not only necessary for a safe practice, but can also be a healing tool for physical ailments, whether they were injuries or chronic pain.
In the second decade, as my bond with my practice grew much stronger, I realized that yoga was a profound healing modality on all levels: mental, emotional, and spiritual.
Even during the most challenging phases of my life, while I wasn't on my mat sometimes for months at a time, I found myself living my yoga practice. I didn't ask the questions "why me" or think about what could have been. I was present, breathing, observing, and generally experiencing internal peace, regardless of my surface emotions.
Now, finishing up my third decade of practice, when I step on the mat, it feels like returning to my spiritual sanctuary, no matter where I am.

Yoga Private Classes

My goal is to instill a deep admiration for the practice while igniting the inspiration to explore it as a therapeutic modality.
I place strong emphasis on teaching proper alignment techniques to beginning and intermediate students, as these fundamentals form the foundation of an effective asana practice. Over time, these principles extend beyond the mat and integrate into our daily lives.

I encourage students to engage in mindful self-awareness during their practice, understanding that our beliefs and attitudes accompany us onto the mat. Do you push yourself even when the pose becomes painful and breathing is restricted? Or do you shy away from challenging poses?
The answers to many of our questions, dilemmas, and the path toward thriving in life, lies within. Yoga can open the door for us to tap into our innate wisdom.
Also essential is the focus on breath, as a tool for meditation and healing. Modern scientific research validates what ancient wisdom has long held—that our lung capacity significantly influences our longevity.
COST: $120 per hour
Frequently Asked Questions
What levels do you teach? I can accommodate all levels, from beginner to advanced, with the alignment component catered to the level of the student.

Do you teach a flow class? My goal is to teach principles that you can take into a group flow class. Sometimes we will walk through a vinyasa flow, but the purpose is to break down the poses and learn about alignment and breathing practices rather than flow.
